Google has revealed the dates for its annual I/O conference, scheduled for May 19 and May 20, 2026, sparking anticipation for major announcements on Android updates and AI advancements.
The conference will feature streaming of keynotes and sessions, including the opening keynote, where Google typically makes its primary I/O announcements. As a developer conference, Google I/O is expected to cover upcoming Android changes and updates on Google’s AI initiatives, such as Gemini.
The conference dates were revealed after completion of a puzzle on the I/O website, which utilized Gemini and consisted of multiple “builds.” The puzzle components included a mini-golf game with a virtual caddy powered by Gemini, a nonogram that uses Gemini to generate “endless game boards,” Word Wheel, which leverages Gemini for automated level design, Super Sonicbot, which uses Gemini to introduce microphone mechanics for controlling an Android Bot’s altitude, and Stretchy Cat, which uses Gemini as a stage designer to balance game mechanics and difficulty for endless play.
These interactive elements not only showcased Gemini’s capabilities but also provided a unique and engaging way for participants to uncover the conference dates.
