Google is expanding its affordable AI Plus subscription to 40 additional countries following a positive reception after its initial launch in Indonesia. First introduced in early September for approximately $4.50 per month, the plan is positioned as a lower-cost alternative to the company’s premium offerings, which include the $20/month AI Pro plan and the $250/month AI Ultra plan.

Subscribers to the AI Plus plan receive higher usage and editing limits in Gemini’s Nano Banana and access to Veo 3 for fast video generation. The plan also includes tools such as Whisk and Flow with monthly credits, Deep Research on 2.5 Pro, and Gemini integration within Google Workspace applications like Gmail, Docs, and Sheets. Users also gain access to more Audio Overviews and an increased number of notebooks in NotebookLM.

The plan includes an extra 200 GB of Google account storage that can be shared with members of a family group, though the AI features are accessible only to the primary account holder. To attract new subscribers, Google is offering a limited-time 50% discount on the AI Plus plan for the first six months for first-time users.

The expansion makes the AI Plus plan available in Angola, Bangladesh, Benin, Bolivia, Burkina Faso, Cambodia, Cameroon, Côte d’Ivoire, Egypt, El Salvador, Ghana, Haiti, Honduras, Indonesia, Kenya, Kyrgyzstan, Laos, Mali, Mexico, Moldova, Morocco, Mozambique, Nepal, Nicaragua, Nigeria, Pakistan, Papua New Guinea, Philippines, Rwanda, Senegal, Tajikistan, Tanzania, Togo, Uganda, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Vietnam, Yemen, Zambia, and Zimbabwe. While pricing varies by country, it remains significantly lower than the $20 per month AI Pro plan.

Google’s AI Plus plan is positioned to compete with OpenAI’s ChatGPT Go, a service that first launched in India and later expanded to Indonesia. ChatGPT Go provides users with higher usage limits for image generation, access to GPT-5, file uploads, and a larger context window. The AI Plus plan provides a budget-friendly option for users in lower-income countries to access Google’s AI tools.
