Google is rolling out a significant update to its Chrome browser on Android, introducing a bookmark bar for foldable devices and tablets in version 146, enhancing the browsing experience on larger mobile screens.
This addition aims to align the browsing experience on larger mobile screens with that offered by Chrome on desktop and laptop computers, potentially enhancing usability for users performing more intensive tasks on their mobile devices.
The bookmark bar will display below the Omnibox, featuring Favicons and site names. A chevron will allow for scrolling through additional bookmarks, and holding a bookmark will reveal its full URL.
Users must manually enable the feature by navigating to Chrome’s Settings, then Appearance, and selecting “Show bookmarks bar.” The default setting is “Hidden on narrow screens.”
