Human Things, the company behind Genki, is developing a magnetic battery pack for the rumored Nintendo Switch 2, alongside a new charging dock for Joy-Cons that addresses common complaints. The company is aiming for “thoughtful upgrades” to the Switch experience.
The company’s new battery pack design uses magnets for attachment, addressing the original Switch’s kickstand issues while offering more than double the original Switch’s battery life. Human Things stated the battery will last at least 3 hours during standard usage. The battery will support pass-through charging via USB-C.
Genki is also developing a new Joy-Con charging dock that seeks to fix problems with existing docks. This dock solves three problems:
- Joy-Cons are hard to slide in: The new dock will seek to address this issue.
- It’s hard to tell when they are fully charged: The new dock will also deal with the issue.
- The official dock is fragile: Genki hopes to provide a redesigned charging dock which solves the issue.
No pricing or release dates have been announced.
