Samsung’s Galaxy Watch 8 is inching closer to release, with battery details for the standard and Classic models surfacing via regulatory certifications. The standard model is slated for a slight battery capacity increase.

Two battery models, EB-BL330ABY and EB-BL505ABY, were found in SafetyKorea’s database. These batteries are linked to device model numbers SM-L330 and SM-L505, believed to be for the Galaxy Watch 8 and Galaxy Watch 8 Classic, respectively.

Here’s what’s confirmed for the Galaxy Watch 8 (SM-L330):

  • Battery capacity: The 44mm variant will feature a 435 mAh battery, a bump from the Watch 7’s 425 mAh.
  • Safety compliance: TUV Rheinland has also certified the battery.

Details about the Galaxy Watch 8 Classic (SM-L505) battery remain unconfirmed, but the watch is expected to keep its signature rotating bezel.

Rumors indicate the Galaxy Watch 8 series will include:

  • Chipset: The 3nm Exynos W1000, same as last year’s Watch 7 and Watch Ultra
  • GPS: Dual-frequency GPS for enhanced location accuracy.
  • Software: A refined design running Wear OS 5-based One UI Watch.

As of now, there’s no mention of a second-generation Galaxy Watch Ultra, suggesting Samsung is currently prioritizing the Galaxy Watch 8 and Watch 8 Classic. The Galaxy Watch 8 series is expected to debut alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7, potentially in July or August. The larger battery in the Galaxy Watch 8 could translate to extended battery life compared to older models.
