The Azahar app has received a significant update on Android, now supporting multiplayer functionality for Nintendo 3DS games. The latest version, 2126.0, includes features like public and private room creation and chat capabilities.
This update, released as a preview on GitHub, enhances the app’s multiplayer options by mirroring the desktop version’s capabilities. However, the multiplayer feature requires devices to be connected to the same Wi-Fi network, as it does not support local communication between devices in close proximity.
In addition to multiplayer support, the update introduces a combo button shortcut for easier key presses and improvements for dual-screen devices. The Vulkan graphics renderer is also now enabled on devices using ANGLE for OpenGL rendering, which is expected to reduce graphical defects.
The Azahar team noted that while most devices are not impacted by the Vulkan change, it will become increasingly relevant as future Android 17 devices will utilize Vulkan-based rendering. This change is particularly beneficial for devices with Samsung Exynos and MediaTek chipsets.
Other improvements in this release include tweaks for frame generation software and GPU-related adjustments aimed at enhancing emulation accuracy. This update follows several others earlier in the year, which focused on reducing input latency and enhancing shader caching.
