Huawei is reportedly developing a new wide, non-foldable phone, potentially mirroring the screen size of its Pura X model. Weibo tipster @DigitalChatStation disclosed that the device may debut as a non-foldable version of the Pura X clamshell phone.
The new model is expected to feature a 6.39-inch display panel with a 16:10 aspect ratio, aligning closely with the Pura X. The primary distinction between the two models will be their form factor.
Specifications for the new device include a Kirin 9 series chipset, a 7000mAh battery, and a 50MP triple-camera system. Additional features are anticipated to enhance user experience further.
For consumers seeking a wide-screen device without the foldable design or high price tag, this new offering may be appealing. However, its width could pose challenges for pocketability.
Initial reports suggest that Huawei aims to launch the wide, non-foldable phone in the fourth quarter of this year, possibly following the official unveiling of the Mate 90 series.
The Pura X represents Huawei’s first entry into a new design concept, showcasing a compact, wide foldable form factor accompanied by the HarmonyOS 5.0 software. The plans for the non-foldable variant are generating interest among consumers and analysts alike.
