Check AirPods Battery Level on Android Devices

Android users can now easily check their AirPods battery level thanks to a simple third-party application, filling a feature gap left by the lack of native support.

To check the AirPods battery level on Android, users need their AirPods, an Android device with Bluetooth enabled, and access to the Google Play Store to download an app. By installing a simple application from the Google Play Store, users can easily monitor their AirPods’ charge level directly from their Android device.

The process involves several straightforward steps. First, users need to open the Google Play Store and search for an “AirPods battery app.” Popular options like MaterialPods or AirBattery are free to install. If their AirPods are not already connected, users need to pair them to their Android device by opening their device’s Bluetooth settings and selecting them.

Next, users need to launch the battery app they just installed and follow the on-screen instructions to grant it the required permissions, which may include access to Bluetooth, background activity, and the ability to display over other apps. Within the app, users need to tap the tile that matches their AirPods model. A pop-up window will immediately appear showing the current battery percentage for their AirPods and their charging case.

A notable benefit of using these battery monitoring apps is that most of them also add the battery status to the notification shade, allowing users to check the charge at a glance without having to open the app itself. This feature eliminates the guesswork of figuring out when to charge AirPods, preventing them from dying in the middle of a phone call or a favorite song.

Knowing the exact battery level of each AirPod and the case helps users better manage their usage throughout the day. Although AirPods were designed for the Apple ecosystem, this solution helps bridge the feature gap for Android users. While some features like Siri are lost, core functions such as play/pause, skipping tracks, and switching between noise-cancellation modes still work perfectly. Users can even rename their AirPods on Android through the Bluetooth settings, giving them a more integrated experience.
