Some ChatGPT subscribers are reporting a new feature, “Study Together,” appearing in their available tools list, transforming the chatbot into a more effective educational tool by asking users questions rather than simply providing answers.
This development is seen as OpenAI’s potential response to Google’s LearnLM, with speculation that it might also support multi-user study groups. OpenAI has not commented on the feature, and when queried, ChatGPT itself stated, “OpenAI hasn’t officially announced when or if Study Together will be available to all users — or if it will require ChatGPT Plus.”
The emergence of this feature is significant given ChatGPT’s established, albeit sometimes controversial, presence in education. The feature could encourage beneficial uses of AI in learning while potentially mitigating academic dishonesty.
