Gearbox Publishing has confirmed the global release times for Borderlands 4, the latest installment in the popular looter-shooter franchise, scheduled to launch on September 12, 2025, across multiple platforms.

The PC version of Borderlands 4 will be available on Steam and the Epic Games Store starting September 11, 2025. Players in different regions can access the game at varying times: in Los Angeles (PDT), the game will be available at 9 am, in New York (EDT) at 12 pm noon, in London (BST) at 5 pm, and in Paris (CEST) at 6 pm on September 11. On September 12, 2025, the game will unlock at midnight in Singapore (SGT), 1 am in Tokyo (JST), 2 am in Sydney (AEST), and 4 am in Wellington (NZST).

For PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles, Borderlands 4 is set to become available on September 11, 2025, at 9 pm PDT. The game will then unlock at midnight on September 12, 2025, in Wellington (NZST), followed by Sydney (AEST), Tokyo (JST), Singapore (SGT), London (BST), Paris (CEST), and New York (EDT), all at midnight in their respective time zones.

The Nintendo Switch 2 version of Borderlands 4 is scheduled to launch later, on October 2, 2025, at 9 pm PDT. It will follow a similar unlock pattern as the other consoles, becoming available at midnight on October 3, 2025, in Wellington (NZST), Sydney (AEST), Tokyo (JST), Singapore (SGT), London (BST), Paris (CEST), and New York (EDT).

Randy Pitchford, development chief at Gearbox, has acknowledged concerns regarding the game’s pre-release performance on PC. He confirmed that a Day 1 patch is in development, expected to address these issues. Pitchford stated that the patch “does a lot,” indicating it is crucial for optimizing the game’s performance.

Borderlands 4 is designed to deliver a more grounded narrative and tone compared to Borderlands 3, while retaining the series’ core looter-shooter gameplay and cooperative action. The game will feature new Vault Hunters and a vast array of weapons, building on the elements that have defined the series.

It has been confirmed that there will be no early access or pre-release unlocks for Borderlands 4. Players will need to wait for the official release times to begin their adventure, as reported by Vikki Blake, a reporter for IGN.
