Gearbox Entertainment has announced that Borderlands 4 will launch on Nintendo Switch 2 on October 3, 2025, as revealed by Gearbox head Randy Pitchford in a video posted on Twitter/X.
The announcement follows earlier launch date revelations for other platforms, with the game set to release on PlayStation, PC, and Xbox nearly a month earlier, on September 12, 2025. Initially, the release was scheduled for September 23, 2025, but the date was advanced, sparking speculation that it was to avoid a conflict with Grand Theft Auto 6. However, GTA 6 has since been delayed.
Pitchford expressed satisfaction with the development process for the Switch 2, stating it “has been a joy to work with.” Despite the positive feedback, no specific reason was given for the delayed release of the Nintendo Switch 2 version compared to other platforms. The decision to stagger the release across different platforms does not affect the pricing, with Borderlands 4 set to be priced at $70 at launch across all platforms.
