Bluesky has rolled out an update to its app, version 1.100, which introduces a revamped search page and emoji reactions in direct messages, significantly enhancing the user experience.

The search page has been renamed “Explore,” where users can now discover trending topics, suggested accounts to follow, and starter packs, making it easier for them to engage with the platform. The new Explore page retains the search functionality at the top but now presents a list of top trends under the search bar, accompanied by tags indicating their popularity as “hot” or “new.” These tags give users insight into what’s currently trending on the platform.

The Explore page also features a shortcut at the top that allows users to edit their interests, which inform the content displayed on the Explore page. Although this shortcut can be hidden, users have the flexibility to adjust their interests at any time by navigating to Settings > Content and media, enabling a more personalized experience and more relevant content.

In addition to the revamped Explore page, Bluesky has introduced emoji reactions in direct messages, allowing users to react to messages with emojis by holding down on the message and selecting an emoji. This feature is reminiscent of similar functionalities in other chat apps, such as iMessage, making it intuitive for users.

The introduction of emoji reactions has also led to a change in accessing message options. Previously, holding down on a message would bring up a menu at the bottom of the screen with options to translate, copy, or delete the message. Now, when a user presses and holds on a message, these options appear directly under the message, providing a more streamlined and intuitive way to manage messages.
