Bloober Team has unveiled Layers of Fear 3 following a Valentine’s Day countdown that began at the start of 2026, promising a new chapter in its horror series that will include a game, novel, and music.
The developer revealed the new IP through a live-action teaser featuring an actor reading lines from William Blake’s poem, The Sick Rose. The teaser showed a painting falling from the wall, and the actor turning over an hourglass with red sand, accompanied by the tagline “The door won’t stay closed.” However, no gameplay or release date information was disclosed.
Bloober Team announced that it will launch new Layers of Fear non-game content, including a novel written by horror writer, poet, and vocalist Marta Bijan. Additionally, the company will release the soundtracks for Layers of Fear, The Medium, and Cronos in both digital and physical formats, including CD and vinyl editions.
The new title is likely to be highly anticipated given Bloober’s recent successes. The company has recently released its Silent Hill 2 remake, Cronos: The New Dawn, and a new Layers of Fear 2 version for the Switch 2 called Layers of Fear: The Final Masterpiece Edition. The original Layers of Fear, released in 2016, is considered one of the better horror titles in recent years, thanks to its expertly crafted narrative and psychedelic thrills and chills. The sequel, which moved to a creepy ocean liner setting, was also well-received.
