Good Games Group, led by former Humble Games executives, has acquired the full back catalog of over 50 Humble Games titles from Ziff Davis and rebranded to Balor Games, positioning itself in the “triple-I” gaming sector.
The acquisition returns the publishing rights for titles such as “Slay the Spire” and “A Hat in Time” to the original leadership team. This move expands Balor Games’ portfolio to over 60 indie titles, following the separate purchase of the Firestoke Games catalog and rights to “Fights in Tight Spaces.”
Balor Games CEO Alan Patmore stated that the new entity maintains the same leadership and commitment to publishing. “What changes is our scale and our focus,” Patmore wrote. “Balor Games is built for inventors and backed by believers.”
Mark Nash, a co-founder, described the company’s operational approach in an interview with GamesIndustry.biz. “We feel it’s important that a publisher can match the needs of each individual project,” Nash stated. “We are spending a considerable amount of time with anyone we are partnering with, figuring out what they need specifically.”
Ziff Davis laid off all 36 employees of Humble Games in July 2024. Later that year, Patmore and Mark Nash formed Good Games Group to manage the back catalog before acquiring the rights outright. Humble Games remains separate from the Humble Bundle storefront, which is still owned by Ziff Davis.
