AYANEO has unveiled the KONKR Pocket FIT, its first device under the new sub-brand KONKR, featuring the Snapdragon G3 Gen 3 chipset and positioning it as a high-performance handheld gaming option.

The announcement of KONKR as a cheaper sub-brand had sparked speculation about its target market segment. The KONKR Pocket FIT appears to be targeting the premium segment, potentially outperforming competitors like the Retroid Flip 2 and AYN Odin 2 lineup, while AYANEO remains focused on the ultra-premium category.

The Pocket FIT will be equipped with the Snapdragon G3 Gen 3, described as the latest and most powerful chipset for gaming handhelds. Preliminary testing suggests this chipset outperforms the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 found in the Odin 2 Portal. AYANEO collaborated with Qualcomm to develop drivers for these new chips, and has provided sample units to the Eden emulator team, which develops a Nintendo Switch emulator, to enhance driver support.

Interestingly, the Snapdragon G3 Gen 3 chipset in the Pocket FIT is said to be more powerful than the one in AYANEO’s new flagship handheld, the Pocket DS. The Pocket DS has been under development for over a year, attributed to the use of an older chipset. AYANEO did not opt for a cheaper alternative like the Snapdragon G2 Gen 2, expected to power the Retroid Pocket 6.

The Pocket FIT features a 6-inch 144Hz LCD panel, Hall effect sticks, front-facing stereo speakers, a headphone jack, and an 8,000mAh battery with fast charging. The device will be available in Phantom Black, Snow White, and Dragon Yellow.

While AYANEO has not yet revealed the price of the KONKR Pocket FIT, the specifications suggest a price point of at least $300. For comparison, AYANEO’s first device with the Snapdragon G3 Gen 3 chipset, the Pocket S2, starts at $499 retail, or $439 during the crowdfunding campaign. The Pocket ACE, featuring the previous generation G3 Gen 2 chipset, started at $459 retail or $339 during the crowdfunding campaign.

If the Pocket FIT launches for under $300, even as an early bird discount, it could become the best entry point into high-performance emulation, especially when compared to the Odin 2 Portal, which starts at $329 before shipping. More details are expected in the coming weeks, and interested individuals can sign up for updates on the Indiegogo page to receive notifications regarding the launch.
