Apple Unveils New iPhones, MacBooks, and iPads with AI

Apple Inc. has unveiled a new series of products, including the iPhone 17e, M4 iPad Air, M5 MacBook Air, and MacBook Neo, alongside updated MacBook Pro models and new Studio Displays, expanding its product lines with a focus on AI integration.

The announcements, made over three days, outline a strategic expansion of Apple’s product lines, focusing on AI integration across its M-series chips and introducing more budget-friendly options to compete in various market segments. On Monday, Apple released the iPhone 17e and the M4 iPad Air. The iPhone 17e, priced at $599 and available March 11, features an A19 chip, 256 GB of storage, MagSafe, Qi2 wireless charging, and Apple’s C1X cellular modem.

The M4 iPad Air, starting at $599 for the 11-inch model and $799 for the 13-inch, is 30% faster than its M3 predecessor and designed for AI applications. Tuesday’s releases included the M5 MacBook Air, new MacBook Pro models with M5 Pro and M5 Max chips, and new Studio Display and Studio Display XDR products. The MacBook Pro models, featuring new M5 Pro and M5 Max chips, are designed for intensive AI tasks, with up to 4x faster AI task processing than prior M4 models.

The M5 Pro and M5 Max chips include an 18-core CPU and offer up to 30% improved performance for professional workloads. The M5 Pro supports up to 64GB of unified memory, while the M5 Max supports up to 128GB. The M5 MacBook Air, optimized for AI tasks, features an 18-hour battery life and a 12 MP Center Stage camera. The 13-inch model starts at $1,099 and the 15-inch model at $1,299.

On Wednesday, Apple introduced the MacBook Neo, a low-cost laptop starting at $599, running on the A18 Pro chip. This device targets students and users with less demanding computing needs. The new Studio Display, priced at $1,599, and the Studio Display XDR, at $3,299, offer upgraded cameras and enhanced connectivity, including Thunderbolt 5 ports. Both feature 12 MP Center Stage cameras and support Desk View.

Additionally, Apple unveiled new spring color options for iPhone cases, Apple Watch bands, and the Crossbody Strap.
