The wait is over: Nintendo Switch 2 pre-orders are coming. After months of speculation following the console’s reveal, Nintendo has dropped details–including how to snag one on launch day.
Nintendo typically collaborates with major US retailers like Amazon, Best Buy, and GameStop for product launches, facilitating pre-orders. While Nintendo aims to mitigate launch-day shortages experienced with the original Switch, early pre-ordering is strongly recommended to secure a console on its anticipated June 5th release date. Delays of several weeks or months are possible for those who miss the initial pre-order window.
Two pre-order options will be available: the standalone console for $449.99 and a bundle including a digital copy of Mario Kart World for $499.99. Considering the rising cost of digital games (now $80), the bundle offers compelling value.
The Nintendo Switch 2 represents Nintendo’s most expensive console launch to date, exceeding the original Switch ($299.99) and OLED model ($349.99) pricing. Despite utilizing an LCD display, the Switch 2 boasts a larger, brighter screen with HDR support. Key enhancements include 4K resolution output, redesigned Joy-Con 2 controllers with mouse functionality, increased internal storage (256GB, up from 32GB), and an additional USB-C port.
Keep an eye out for retailers to announce their specific pre-order plans in the coming days. Bundles, including one featuring Mario Kart World, are also expected.
