Nintendo has expanded its Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack service with the addition of three classic Sega Genesis games: Streets of Rage, Super Thunder Blade, and ESWAT: City Under Siege, available exclusively to subscribers.

The Sega Genesis classics library is part of Nintendo Switch Online’s Expansion Pack plan, a premium tier that includes all the benefits of the base Switch Online service. This encompasses access to classic Nintendo 64 and Game Boy Advance games, as well as select DLC such as Mario Kart 8 Deluxe’s Booster Course Pass and Animal Crossing: New Horizons’ Happy Home Paradise expansion. The addition of these Genesis titles further enriches the service’s offerings, providing a broader range of gaming experiences for its subscribers.

The base Nintendo Switch Online plan is priced at $20 per year, while the Expansion Pack plan costs $50 per year. Additionally, Nintendo offers an annual family plan for $80, which covers up to eight Nintendo Accounts across multiple systems. This tiered pricing structure allows users to choose a plan that best suits their needs, whether individual or family-based.

Nintendo has a history of regularly expanding Switch Online’s offerings with new features and titles. In February 2025, Wario Land 4 was added to the Game Boy Advance library, and in March 2025, Game Boy classics Donkey Kong ’94 and Mario’s Picross were introduced. These updates demonstrate Nintendo’s commitment to continually enhancing the service and providing its subscribers with a diverse and engaging gaming library.

The Nintendo Switch Online service is set to continue on the upcoming Switch 2 console, with Expansion Pack members gaining access to GameCube games. At the launch of Switch 2, three GameCube titles will be available: The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, SoulCalibur II, and F-Zero GX. Future additions to the GameCube library will include Super Mario Sunshine, Luigi’s Mansion, and Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance, further expanding the service’s catalog of classic games.

Switch Online members on Switch 2 will also benefit from a new feature called GameChat, which enables players to engage in voice chat and share their screen during multiplayer sessions. GameChat will be available for free to all Switch 2 owners until March 2026, after which it will require a Switch Online membership. This feature is poised to enhance the multiplayer experience on the new console, fostering greater connectivity and interaction among players.
