The highly anticipated sequel to “Moonlighter,” named “Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault,” is slated for release in the summer of 2025, as announced at the Triple-I showcase, promising a new chapter in the beloved dungeon-crawling shopkeeper saga.
Developed by Digital Sun, a Spanish studio, “Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault” distinguishes itself with a completely new 3D art style. The transition from the original game’s pixel art was showcased in a new trailer during the event.
The new trailer offered fans their first look at the 3D graphics. The transition to three-dimensional visuals appears to be well-executed, modernizing the game’s aesthetic while retaining its core appeal.
Players of “Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault” will continue the established gameplay loop of exploring dungeons, battling various enemies, and collecting valuable loot to sell in their shops. The sequel introduces a new feature that allows players to invest in the local village.
By investing in the village, players gain the ability to upgrade their weapons and equipment over time. This added depth is designed to enhance the overall gaming experience, providing a new layer of progression and customization.
While a precise release date remains unconfirmed, the summer 2025 window is nearing. Given that Digital Sun is based in Spain, the summer release window is in reference to the Northern Hemisphere’s seasonal calendar.
Adding to the sense of anticipation, “Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault” will initially be released as an early access title. This approach allows players to involve themselves during the development phase of the game.
The early access release also offers Digital Sun the opportunity to gather community feedback, which could potentially influence and shape the final version of “Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault.”
