Apple is reportedly on the verge of entering the foldable device market with the potential release of an 18.8-inch foldable iPad and a 7.8-inch iPhone Fold as early as 2026.
The latest report from analyst Jeff Pu, based on supply chain information, suggests that Apple is planning to launch two foldable mobile devices in 2026. According to Pu, the devices include an 18.8-inch iPad Fold and a 7.8-inch iPhone Fold, both of which are expected to enter mass production in the fourth quarter of 2026. The iPad Fold would be a massive device when at full size, unfolding to a large screen size.
However, not all analysts agree on the release date. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman predicts that the foldable iPads will not arrive until around 2028. Gurman describes the device as a large iPad capable of unfolding to the size of two iPad Pros placed side-by-side, a product Apple has been refining for several years. Gurman stated, “Apple designers are developing something akin to a giant iPad that unfolds into the size of two iPad Pros side-by-side.”
This is not the first time these devices have been mentioned. Pu first spoke about the folding Apple mobile devices in August last year, and Gurman made his claims at the end of last year. Now, Pu is doubling down on a 2026 release date, despite usually taking Gurman and other supply chain sources into account. The differing predictions have created excitement around these potential new Apple Fold devices.
