Sony has unveiled three new Bluetooth speakers under its ULT Power Sound series, aiming to deliver stronger bass performance, modern design updates, and a versatile lineup that ranges from compact portability to powerful party sound.

The fresh additions to Sony’s ULT Power Sound range are the ULT Field 3, ULT Field 5, and ULT Tower 9. These new models are strategically priced from $200 to $900, offering options for users seeking everything from everyday music listening on the go to full-scale event audio. Sony’s latest lineup not only introduces redesigned aesthetics and functional improvements but also emphasizes deeper bass response and advanced user control. To elevate excitement for the launch, Sony collaborated with music artist Post Malone, bringing extra attention to the new releases.

Leading off the lineup is the ULT Field 3, a $200 cylindrical Bluetooth speaker designed for maximum portability. The Field 3 can be used vertically, horizontally, and even carried effortlessly thanks to an included shoulder strap. Serving as a replacement for the previous SRS-XE300 model and improving upon the ULT Field 1, the Field 3 features a single woofer, one tweeter, and two passive bass radiators, with a design that spotlights Sony’s focus on powerful low-frequency sound. A dedicated ULT1 bass boost button delivers “deeper, lower frequency bass,” according to Sony, giving users immediate access to more robust bass output.

In addition to the bass boost feature, the ULT Field 3 allows users to tailor sound further with a customizable 7-band EQ. Multiple speakers can be linked for even bigger sound experiences, including wireless stereo pairing. The Field 3 promises up to 24 hours of battery life per charge, though using the bass boost function can slightly decrease this figure. The speaker is IP67-rated for dust and water resistance, making it well suited for outdoor use and travel. With its enhanced sound and durable design, the ULT Field 3 is positioned as a direct competitor to recent entries like the JBL Flip 7.

For those seeking more dynamic and expansive sound, the $330 ULT Field 5 takes things up a notch. While it maintains a similar form factor to the Field 3 and can also be oriented vertically or on its side, the Field 5 introduces a central woofer, two tweeters, and dual passive radiators for greater audio output and bass depth. This model incorporates both the ULT1 and an additional ULT2 bass boost button, the latter providing what Sony calls “powerful punchy bass.”

The ULT Field 5 adds a visual dimension to its performance with customizable LED lighting that brings a party atmosphere to any setting. These lighting effects, as well as the speaker’s extended 10-band EQ, are controlled through Sony’s Sound Connect app. With up to 25 hours of battery life (affected by bass boosts and lighting use), the Field 5 also offers party connect and stereo pairing features. Its IP67 durability ensures it’s ready for rugged environments and social gatherings alike.

The flagship of the new series, the ULT Tower 9, is a full-size party speaker designed to replace the previous SRS-XV900 and target the large event and party market at $900. Featuring a massive 12.6-inch woofer, four tweeters for clear high frequencies, and two mid-range drivers to highlight vocals and instruments, the Tower 9 is engineered for powerful, immersive sound. Its design includes sturdy wheels for easier transport, and with dimensions of 16 x 35.8 x 17.9 inches and a weight of 65 pounds, it stands out as a true powerhouse for big gatherings.

The ULT Tower 9 is equipped with both ULT1 and ULT2 bass boost modes and offers a 10-band EQ for detailed sound customization, accessible via app integration. This speaker steps beyond music playback, supporting wireless karaoke microphone connections and featuring an Optical input for direct TV connection. Sony’s TV Sound Booster function aims to provide a bigger, more enveloping sound for television viewing, all controllable through the Sound Connect app. The Tower 9 also delivers a vibrant LED light show, adding to the party atmosphere.

Battery playback on the ULT Tower 9 lasts up to 25 hours. For those preferring a non-battery, AC-powered setup, Sony also offers the Tower 9AC model at a lower price point of $750.

All three new ULT Power Sound speakers—the ULT Field 3, ULT Field 5, and ULT Tower 9—are available for purchase immediately through Sony’s website and major online retailers.
