Apple has unveiled a completely rebuilt version of its Siri AI after two years of delays. The announcement was made during the WWDC 2026 event, marking the most significant update to the voice assistant since its launch in 2011, according to the Wall Street Journal.

The new Siri AI transforms the assistant into a conversational AI chatbot capable of buying concert tickets, creating event plans, identifying objects in photos, and utilizing a user’s personal data to answer complex questions. The updated assistant incorporates technology from Google’s Gemini and aims to compete directly with ChatGPT and Claude.

However, some advanced features will only function on newer Apple devices equipped with the latest chips. Additionally, there are daily usage limits for features that require more powerful server models, and Siri AI will not be available in the European Union or China at launch.
