FBI agents, in collaboration with Google and Black Lotus Labs, have dismantled a significant phishing-as-a-service operation based in China. This operation utilized artificial intelligence to generate and manage nearly one million phishing URLs.
The coordinated effort targeted a service that facilitated cybercriminal activities, allowing users to easily deploy phishing campaigns. The FBI reported that this service had been operational for an extended period, contributing to a rise in cyber fraud and identity theft.
According to the FBI, the operation’s disruption will significantly reduce the number of phishing attacks targeting individuals and organizations. The agency emphasized the importance of working with private sector partners like Google and Black Lotus Labs to combat cyber threats effectively.
This action reflects ongoing federal efforts to tackle the increasing sophistication of cybercrime, particularly operations that leverage AI technologies. The FBI has urged individuals to remain vigilant and report any suspicious online activity.
