Meta announced the release of its second-generation “Ray-Ban Blayzer Optics” and “Ray-Ban Scriber Optics” smart glasses, which will start at $499. The glasses will be available in the U.S. and select international markets on April 14.

Designed for “all-day eyewear,” the smart glasses feature adjustable components such as interchangeable nose pads, temple tips, and overextension hinges. Meta aims to expand the utility of its smart glasses by integrating technology for nutrition tracking through voice prompts and photos, allowing users to log dietary information hands-free.

Additionally, users will soon be able to ask Meta AI to summarize WhatsApp messages and retrieve specific conversation details. These features are part of a broader strategy to enhance the user experience with advanced voice-based insights from personal food logs.

Regarding its Ray-Ban Display smart glasses, Meta previously paused international expansion due to limited inventory but has announced new features for this model. Users will soon access a feature called Neural Handwriting, which allows them to write responses on any surface for messaging services like Instagram, WhatsApp, Messenger, and iMessage.

Display smart glasses users will also be able to view and share automated videos compiled from in-lens display interactions. Meta’s updates come amid increasing competition in the AI wearables market, with Google, Apple, and Snapchat planning new models expected to be available by late 2026 or early 2027.

Google, in partnership with Samsung, plans to launch two Android-powered AI smart glasses, while Apple is developing smart glasses with Siri functionality. Snapchat aims to release new augmented reality Spectacles ahead of its competitors.

In 2025, Meta’s smart glasses accounted for approximately 73% of the total market, with sales tripling year-over-year. This highlights the company’s significant presence in the wearables market, as it continues to innovate in product development and enhance smart glasses capabilities.
