OpenAI has launched a location sharing feature for ChatGPT, enabling the AI to provide more accurate local responses based on users’ device locations.

This feature allows users to share their precise location to enhance the relevance of search results, particularly for local inquiries. OpenAI emphasized that the feature is optional and initially disabled, allowing users to activate it through Settings > Data Controls.

With precise location data, ChatGPT can offer tailored suggestions, such as the best coffee shops nearby when prompted. Mobile device users have the option to disable precise location while still sharing approximate location data for greater control.
