Uber announced an agreement to acquire Blacklane, a chauffeur service operating in over 500 cities across more than 60 countries. The acquisition is set to be finalized by the end of the year.

The acquisition allows Uber to strengthen its executive transportation segment, which is rapidly growing amid high demand for quality and pre-scheduled services. Services like Uber Reserve have emerged as some of the fastest-growing areas in Uber’s mobility business.

Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi expressed eagerness to collaborate with Blacklane, stating, “We are impressed by Blacklane’s achievements and look forward to working together to expand this service to more people around the world.”

Blacklane CEO Dr. Jens Wohltorf noted that the partnership represents a significant step for the company into global markets. He emphasized the potential of combining Blacklane’s luxury transportation experience with Uber’s technology and scale to deliver premium services in additional cities.

Uber has a history of acquisitions, having purchased companies like Careem, Postmates, and Jump Bikes to diversify its service offerings and increase its global market presence. Blacklane, founded in 2011, connects travelers with local chauffeurs via its app and web platforms, attracting a clientele of high-level executives and elite passengers.
