Samsung Electronics is set to roll out AirDrop support via Quick Share to its Galaxy S26 series devices starting March 23, enhancing cross-platform interoperability between Galaxy and Apple devices.
This integration allows Galaxy users to share files with Apple devices, marking a significant step in improving compatibility across the global smartphone market. The feature, known as Quick Share on Samsung devices, will enable seamless file transfer between the two platforms.
The rollout of AirDrop support via Quick Share is scheduled to begin on March 23 in Korea, with the United States to follow later the same week. Other regions, including Europe, Hong Kong, Japan, Latin America, North America, Southeast Asia, and Taiwan, will also receive the update, expanding the reach of this new feature.
While the Galaxy S26 series will be the first to receive this update, additional Galaxy devices will also get AirDrop over Quick Share support at a later date, although the exact timeline has not been specified by the company.
It’s worth noting that Samsung has clarified that AirDrop support will not be enabled by default on Galaxy devices. Instead, users will need to activate a specific setting under Quick Share to “Share with Apple devices.” For successful file transfers, both Galaxy and iPhone users must enable “Everyone” mode on their respective devices, as stated by Samsung in a note shared with 9to5Google.
This development follows a similar move by Google, where Pixel 10 devices first introduced this feature in late 2025, with support later expanding to the Pixel 9 series. Moreover, Chinese smartphone maker Oppo has also announced plans to add similar support by the end of March, indicating a broader industry trend towards enhanced cross-platform compatibility.
