Samsung’s upcoming Wide Fold foldable phone is expected to feature a 4,800mAh battery, according to a leak from tipster Digital Chat Station on Weibo, potentially impacting its competitive positioning in the foldable market.
This battery capacity is larger than the Galaxy Z Fold 7’s battery but smaller than the rumored 5,500mAh battery for Apple’s iPhone Fold. The Wide Fold’s battery has a minimum reported capacity of 4,660mAh, representing a 400mAh increase over the Galaxy Z Fold 7’s battery.
Digital Chat Station also claimed that the forthcoming Galaxy Z Fold 8 will have a 5,000mAh battery, which would be an upgrade from the Z Fold 7’s 4,400mAh battery.
In addition to battery specifications, the Wide Fold is expected to incorporate a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset and a 7.6-inch folding screen. The inner screen is projected to have a wide aspect ratio, distinguishing it from the squarer aspect ratio of current Z Fold models.
