Micron Technology is set to build a second manufacturing facility at its recently acquired Tongluo site in Taiwan, expanding its production of advanced DRAM products.
The new facility aims to increase Micron’s production of high-bandwidth memory (HBM) to meet the rising demand driven by artificial intelligence applications. The U.S. memory chipmaker has completed the acquisition of the Tongluo P5 site from Powerchip Semiconductor Manufacturing Corp (PSMC).
Micron stated that the new facility will be similar in scale to its existing fabrication plant in Miaoli County. The expansion underscores the company’s commitment to meeting the growing demand for advanced memory solutions in the tech industry.
