Shazam is now available as an integration within ChatGPT, allowing users to identify songs without opening the standalone Shazam app, simplifying the music discovery process.
Users must link the Shazam app with ChatGPT from the Apps page to activate the feature. Users can type prompts like “Shazam, what’s playing?” to summon the service within the chat interface. A pop-up box appears that can be tapped to launch the music discovery service, which then listens to the tune. ChatGPT displays the song’s name, artist, and artwork, with an option to save the song to Shazam. The feature works within ChatGPT even if the Shazam app is not downloaded on the device.
This integration provides a method for music identification that bypasses the need to open a separate application. The feature is designed for phones with limited memory, as it functions without the standalone app installed. The capability reduces the steps required to identify a song playing in the environment.
The Shazam integration has started rolling out globally within ChatGPT on iOS, Android, and the web. The rollout covers multiple platforms to ensure broad accessibility for users. The feature is currently active for users with access to the Apps page in ChatGPT.
