OpenAI has expanded its AI coding tool, Codex, to Windows, following its earlier release on macOS, making it accessible to a broader developer base and enhancing workflow management and automation capabilities.

This expansion integrates Codex with the prevalent Windows operating system, allowing users to coordinate multiple AI agents on a single task and streamlining repetitive processes such as bug testing through its support for automations.

The Windows version of the Codex app includes a “Skills” section, which assists users by providing bundled instructions, resources, and scripts for connecting agents to developer tools and workflows, thereby simplifying the integration process.

OpenAI has also incorporated native sandboxing specifically for Windows developer environments, ensuring a secure and controlled testing ground for developers.

Codex is available to users across all ChatGPT tiers, including Free, Go, Plus, and Pro accounts, making it widely accessible to developers regardless of their subscription status.

The app saves session history to the user’s OpenAI account, allowing for continuity across different devices and ensuring that users can pick up where they left off without interruption.
