Snap has announced it will host its own creator awards show, the Snappy Awards Show, at its headquarters on March 31, to be hosted by comedian and content creator Matt Friend.
The Snappy Awards follows Snap’s recent efforts to provide more tools for influencers, including the launch of individual creator subscriptions. The event will honor creators in several categories, including Spotlight MVP, Best Storyteller, and Breakout Creator of the Year. Additional awards will be given for collaboration, cultural impact, and success in a single subject.
Snapchat is not the first social media platform to hold an awards event for its creators. TikTok hosted its inaugural US awards show last year, setting a precedent for recognizing and rewarding content creators on the platform.
