Meta Partners with NVIDIA on AI Infrastructure Expansion

Meta has announced a significant long-term partnership with NVIDIA, agreeing to purchase millions of NVIDIA Blackwell and Rubin GPUs, marking a substantial investment in AI infrastructure.

As part of the deal, Meta will deploy NVIDIA Confidential Computing within WhatsApp to enable AI-powered features while maintaining user data confidentiality and integrity. This technology secures data during computation, rather than solely in transit, allowing Meta and third-party AI agent providers to protect their intellectual property.

Meta will be the first company to deploy NVIDIA Grace CPUs in a standalone configuration, without pairing them with GPUs, to support inference and agentic workloads. Additionally, the company will utilize NVIDIA Spectrum-X Ethernet switches in its infrastructure to further enhance its capabilities.

This partnership is in line with Meta’s previously announced plan to invest up to $135 billion in AI infrastructure in 2026. Analysts estimate that the NVIDIA portion of this spending could reach tens of billions of dollars, underscoring the scale of Meta’s commitment to advancing its AI technologies.

Meta’s broader infrastructure expansion includes plans to build up to 30 data centers, with 26 of these located in the U.S., by 2028, as part of a $600 billion commitment. This significant investment highlights Meta’s dedication to developing its AI capabilities and supporting its growing infrastructure needs.
