This guide explains how to change emojis on Android phone or tablet using different keyboard apps and settings, allowing users to personalize their messages and express themselves with a fresh visual language.

To change emoji style on Android, users can follow the steps to install and configure Gboard, Textra SMS, or Facemoji Emoji Keyboard for custom emoji appearances. Before starting, users need an Android device with internet access, a Google Play Store account, and permission to install third-party keyboards.

One way to change emoji style is by using the Gboard keyboard. To do this, users need to download Gboard from the Google Play Store and open the app. They then tap “Enable in Settings” to add it under Android Language & input settings and toggle on Gboard. After that, they tap “Use” to return to the Gboard app, then “Select Input Method” and choose Gboard. Users then tap “Select keyboard” and “Done” to finish the setup. Once set up, users can open the Messages app, tap the text field to bring up the keyboard, and tap the smiley face next to the spacebar to open the emoji selector.

Another method is by using Textra SMS. Users can download Textra SMS from the Google Play Store, open the app, and tap “START USING TEXTRA” and optionally “MAKE DEFAULT APP.” They then tap the three-dot menu in the top-right corner, select “Settings,” choose “Customize Look,” and tap “Emoji Style” to view available styles. After selecting an emoji style, users tap “OKAY” to apply it within Textra.

A third option is using Facemoji stickers. To do this, users install Facemoji Emoji Keyboard from the Google Play Store, open the app, and tap “Agree and Continue.” They then tap “Enable Facemoji Keyboard” and slide the switch on, confirming permissions by tapping “OK” twice. Users then tap “Switch to Facemoji Keyboard” and select Facemoji Keyboard as the default. Optionally, they can tap “OPEN YOUR GALLERY” to choose a background image. Once set up, users can open any compatible messaging app, tap the text field to bring up the Facemoji keyboard, and tap the emoji key to view standard emojis and the sticker icon.

After setting a new keyboard, it is recommended to restart messaging apps to ensure custom emojis load correctly. Different keyboards offer unique features like Emoji Kitchen mixes or animated stickers, enhancing everyday chats. By installing Gboard, Textra SMS, or Facemoji, users can switch between styles depending on the app or mood, keeping their communication lively and engaging.
