Having multiple calendars synced to your iPhone can lead to clutter, but deleting unwanted ones is a straightforward process that can help you regain control over your schedule.
If you want to get rid of some clutter, you can delete unwanted calendars from an iPhone. These can be default calendars or calendars added with your email accounts. Here’s how to delete calendars on your iPhone by following three methods to remove calendars, unsubscribe from spam, or delete individual events from the Calendar app.
The first method involves deleting calendars directly from the Calendar app. To do this, open the Calendar app and tap Calendars at the bottom of the screen. If you’re on an event page, tap the arrow in the top-left corner to go back to the main calendar. All calendars on your iPhone will be displayed in a list, including email calendars. Tap the i next to a calendar, and you will see categories such as On My iPhone, Other, and any synced email accounts. Then, tap Delete Calendar at the bottom of the screen. Alternatively, tap Hide All to temporarily clear the calendar’s events from your main calendar. If you have calendars under Other, tap the check-mark icon to deselect it. Tap Delete Calendar again to confirm. You must have at least one calendar active; you won’t be able to delete a calendar if it’s the only one you have. If you’re having trouble deleting a calendar from another provider like Google, log in to Google Calendar and delete it there. Delegated (shared) calendars can only be hidden, not deleted.
The second method involves unsubscribing from calendar spam. To do this, open the Calendar app and tap the spam event. Then, tap Unsubscribe at the bottom of the screen. The event will be removed, and you’ll no longer receive notifications or invitations. You may also need to check your iOS version and follow the steps for older iOS versions: Go to Settings > Calendar > Accounts > Subscribed Calendars > select the calendar > Delete Account.
The third method involves deleting calendar entries. To do this, open the Calendar app, tap the event, and then tap Delete Event at the bottom of the page. Tap Delete Event again to confirm. If the event repeats, choose This Event Only or All Future Events. Calendar entries synced to Outlook or Google will also be deleted there.
Before deleting, it’s a good idea to export important calendars via iCloud or your provider’s website to create a backup and avoid losing data. After cleaning up your calendars, consider syncing only essential accounts to keep your iPhone organized. Review your email and iCloud settings to prevent unwanted calendars from reappearing. You can also create color-coded calendars for work, personal, and family events to stay efficient.
Regular maintenance like this helps reduce notifications and improves focus. If you use shared calendars often, communicate changes with collaborators first.
