Roblox users can now enhance their gaming experience by enabling avatar animation on PC or mobile, allowing their facial expressions and reactions to be displayed on their avatar in real-time.

To get started, users will need an age-verified Roblox account and a webcam or a mobile device with a front-facing camera. Ensuring you have these prerequisites is the first step before diving into the setup process.

Follow these platform-specific steps to enable and use avatar animation in Roblox. The process varies slightly between PC and mobile devices, but the overall requirements remain the same.

On PC, users can enable avatar animation by launching Roblox, clicking the cogwheel icon in the upper-right corner to open Settings, and then selecting Privacy from the left-hand sidebar under the Security section. They then need to toggle on the option labeled “Use camera to animate your avatar with your movement.” If this option is missing, users must verify their age by going to Settings → Account Info → Verify My Age.

Users also need to check their avatar’s head for support of face animation by clicking Avatar → Head & Body and looking for a head with a winking-face icon. If none is available, they can purchase one from the Marketplace. To use the feature, they must enter an experience that supports animated avatars, checking the About section for “Camera” listed under Communication. If tracking isn’t working or if they have multiple webcams, users can select the correct one by clicking the Roblox logo → Settings → Video Camera. When finished, they should return to Privacy settings and toggle off the animation option to protect their privacy.

On mobile, the process is similar. Users need to open the Roblox app, tap the three-dot button in the lower-right corner to access Settings, and then select Privacy. They then toggle on the option labeled “Use camera to animate your avatar with your movement” and verify their age if necessary. The steps for checking the avatar’s head and entering a compatible experience are the same as on PC. When finished, they should return to Privacy settings and toggle off the animation option.

If the face tracking option remains unavailable after age verification, the feature might still be in beta and not yet available for the user’s account. Users can check Roblox updates for rollout information. Enabling face tracking enhances the Roblox experience by making interactions more expressive and immersive. The feature allows avatars to react in real-time to users’ facial expressions, adding a personal touch to conversations and helping users connect better with friends in virtual worlds.

This feature bridges the gap between digital and real-life communication, fostering creativity and engagement in experiences. It’s especially useful in social games where non-verbal cues can make role-playing or casual chats more lively and fun. Overall, it elevates how users express themselves without compromising on Roblox’s safety standards.
