If you’re getting a lot of emails on your iPhone, you may want to log out of email accounts in the Mail app. This guide shows you how to sign out from iPhone Mail or Gmail.

Removing an email account will delete all synced data, including emails, contacts, and calendar events from your iPhone. This action is irreversible and may affect other apps that use the account.

To log out from mail on iPhone, you can follow these methods to sign out, disable, or manage email accounts step by step. For a quick sign out, open your iPhone’s Settings, scroll down and tap Apps, then tap Mail, and tap Mail Accounts. Tap the account you want to log out from, and tap Delete Account. Tap Delete Account again to confirm.

If you want to disable mail temporarily, open your iPhone’s Settings, scroll down and tap Apps, then tap Mail, and tap Mail Accounts. Tap the email account you want to turn off temporarily, and toggle off “Mail”. If you’re using an iCloud email account, you’ll turn off “Use on this iPhone” instead.

To log out of Gmail, open the Gmail app on your iPhone, tap your profile icon in the top-right corner, tap Manage accounts on this device, and tap Remove from device under your account. This deletes the email from the Gmail app.

You can also add a new email account to your iPhone by opening Settings, scrolling down and tapping Apps, tapping Mail, and tapping Mail Accounts. Tap Add Account, select your email provider, and log into your email account.

If you need to add the Mail app to your home screen, swipe to the App Library, find the Mail app, tap and hold the Mail icon, and tap Add to Home Screen.

Some common issues you may encounter include a missing Accounts tab in Mail settings. To resolve this, go to Settings > Passwords & Accounts (or Accounts & Passwords) to manage mail accounts. If a deleted mail account shows “invalid password,” use the forgot password link.

Before removing any account, back up important emails or data using iCloud or another service to avoid losing access to critical information. After logging out of an email account, consider reviewing your iPhone’s privacy settings to ensure other apps aren’t accessing unnecessary data.

You might also want to update your iOS to the latest version for improved security features in the Mail app. If you frequently switch accounts, explore third-party email apps like Outlook or Spark for better management options.
