Word on the street is that OPPO’s Find X9 family might bring a 200MP camera to the table, though details remain blurry on whether it’ll be the main or periscope telephoto lens getting the megapixel boost. This rumor comes from Chinese tipster Smart Pikachu.
The tipster speculates that the 200MP camera will most likely be used for a periscope telephoto lens. To reinforce this idea, the article presents HONOR and Vivo’s success with 200-megapixel periscope telephoto cameras. Their competitor, Samsung, uses a 200-megapixel main camera on its flagships.
While the exact sensor remains under wraps, speculation points toward the ISOCELL HP9, previously featured in the Vivo X200 Pro, which is a 1/1.4-inch camera sensor. OPPO used a 1/2.51-inch sensor on the Find X7 Ultra and Find X8 Pro; therefore, the 200-megapixel camera has a much larger sensor.
Don’t hold your breath just yet – the OPPO Find X9 series isn’t expected to hit the market until Q4 of this year. All eyes are currently on the upcoming OPPO Find X8s, Find X8+, and Find X8 Ultra, slated for launch on April 10.
In related news, OPPO recently unveiled its ‘Lumo’ imaging engine, primarily geared towards enhancing portrait photography. It was also stated that Hasselblad will still remain despite this announcement.
