Electronic Arts has launched Battlefield: RedSec, a new free-to-play battle royale mode set in the Battlefield 6 universe, available for download across various platforms starting October 28.

The game went live at 11 AM ET today, as confirmed following numerous leaks. Crucially, RedSec is entirely free and does not require ownership of the main Battlefield 6 game, opening it up to a broad audience. This move is seen as a direct competitor to Call of Duty: Warzone. Battlefield 6 itself launched on October 10 and achieved significant early success, selling 7 million copies in its first three days.

While EA has provided limited gameplay specifics, RedSec is expected to follow the established battle royale formula where numerous players fight on a large map until only one squad or player remains. A brief teaser suggested the possibility of choosing between four distinct soldier classes, though details on class abilities or loadout systems have not been confirmed.
