Google Ends Support for Original Pixel Watch

Google has released the final software update for the original Pixel Watch, concluding its official support period, as the device, launched in 2022, had a commitment for at least three years of software updates.

The update, version BW1A.251005.003.W1, includes minor security patches and bug fixes but does not upgrade the watch to Wear OS 6. It addresses vulnerabilities outlined in Google’s October 2025 security bulletin, enhancing device security without introducing new features.

The update is rolling out gradually and will reach all eligible devices over the coming days. While Google may issue occasional security patches beyond this point, the official support for the first-generation Pixel Watch has now ended.

Users of the original Pixel Watch are advised to upgrade to newer models, such as the Pixel Watch 3 or Pixel Watch 4 (though there is no Pixel Watch 4 as per the original context, the newer model available is Pixel Watch 3, and possibly future releases), to access ongoing software support and additional features.

In comparison, the Pixel Watch 2 and Pixel Watch 3 are receiving a more comprehensive October 2025 update. This version brings Wear OS 6, along with security improvements and new functionalities, including auto-launch for Google Maps and enhancements to safety features.

The original Pixel Watch’s support timeline aligns with Google’s update policy for its wearables. Released as the company’s first smartwatch, it paved the way for subsequent models with extended capabilities.
