Apple is set to introduce vapor-chamber cooling in its next-generation iPad Pro, powered by the M6 chip, in a move expected to significantly enhance the device’s cooling and performance capabilities.

The incorporation of vapor-chamber cooling in the upcoming iPad Pro follows its successful implementation in the iPhone 17 Pro models, where it has proven to be effective in managing heat and boosting performance. The larger surface area of the iPad compared to the iPhone is anticipated to further improve heat dissipation with the vapor-chamber system, allowing the tablet to handle demanding tasks such as gaming, video editing, and AI applications more efficiently.

According to Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman, Apple may utilize the vapor-chamber feature as a distinguishing factor between different iPad models. This strategy is not new to Apple, as the company had previously upgraded the cooling system in the M4-generation iPad Pro by adding a copper heat sink to enhance its thermal management.

The concept of vapor-chamber cooling is not unique to Apple, as competitors like Samsung and Google have already employed similar cooling systems in their smartphones. Notably, Samsung incorporated a liquid-cooling setup in its Galaxy Tab S9 tablet, released in 2023, demonstrating the industry’s recognition of the importance of advanced cooling solutions in high-performance devices.

Gurman anticipates that Apple will adhere to its standard 18-month release cycle for the iPad Pro. Based on this timeline, the M6 iPad Pro featuring the new vapor-chamber cooling system is expected to arrive around 2027, marking a significant upgrade in Apple’s tablet lineup.
