Huawei has confirmed that it will launch its HarmonyOS 6.0 operating system on October 22 at 14:30, as announced through a video teaser on the social media platform Weibo.
The upcoming version of the OS is expected to bring several upgrades, including an enhanced user interface and improved functionality. According to Huawei, the update will continue to focus on being safer, smarter, and smoother. In its official post, Huawei stated: “At 14:30 on October 22, Huawei HarmonyOS Operating System 6 is specially released, which is better-looking, easier to use, smarter, safer, and smoother. #HarmonyOS6#, Stay tuned!”
Hua Gang, CEO of Huawei Consumer Business, commented on the announcement, stating that HarmonyOS 6 will “open a new experience with full evolution.” The exact nature of the launch event remains unspecified, but it may mark the beginning of the public beta for HarmonyOS 6.0. This speculation is based on Huawei’s past practices; last year, the company launched the HarmonyOS 5.0 public beta on October 8, coinciding with the Nova 13 series launch event.
HarmonyOS 6.0 was initially announced at the HDC 2025 conference, where the company also opened a developer preview. Currently, the software is in a closed beta phase, available for select flagship phones and tablets. Additionally, Huawei has launched a developer version of HarmonyOS 6.0 for PCs, which includes new features and optimizations for those devices. The company has also initiated a HarmonyOS 6.0 Developer Beta Program for specific Huawei PC models.
