Google is discontinuing the Bitmoji integration in its Gboard keyboard application, a feature that allowed users to insert customizable cartoon avatars into messages across various apps.
A notification is being presented to some Gboard users, informing them that “Bitmoji in Gboard is going away on December 15, 2025.” This message is reportedly targeted at users who have previously used the Bitmoji sticker feature in the keyboard app, according to reports. The removal aligns with code discovered within the Gboard application earlier this year, indicating that Bitmoji support would be phased out before 2026.
Bitmoji is a service that enables people to create personalized cartoon avatars mirroring their appearance, complete with customizable clothing and accessories. These avatars generate a wide array of stickers for digital communication. Despite its removal from Gboard, the Bitmoji service will continue to operate, and the stickers will remain accessible through other supporting applications and the official Bitmoji website.
To help users adapt, the in-app Gboard warning includes a link to the Bitmoji sticker web portal, bitmoji.com/stickers, where users can continue to create, manage, and share their personalized stickers after the integration ends.
