Google has announced the integration of its Nano Banana AI image editor into several of its products, including Search, NotebookLM, and Photos, a tool that gained significant user attention after its launch last month.

The integration with NotebookLM introduces substantial changes to the Video Overviews feature. Users will have access to six new visual styles, such as watercolor and anime. The update also enables the generation of contextual illustrations based on source materials and adds a new micro-video format called Briefs. Video Overviews is a function within NotebookLM that automatically produces explainer videos from user-provided documents, complete with narrated slideshows and visuals. The rollout of this update will begin this week for NotebookLM Pro users, with availability for all users scheduled for “the upcoming weeks.”

In Google Search, the integration provides new methods for creating and editing images directly within the official application. The company explained that users can employ a chat prompt to request that the AI create a stylized version of an image. Users can also capture photos using the Lens tool and subsequently use the AI for editing. This feature is currently active for U.S. customers using the English language version of the app. Google plans to expand availability to more countries and languages “in the near future.”

Specific details regarding the integration with Google Photos have not been released. Google stated that Nano Banana will be added to the Photos platform in “the weeks ahead” and that more information would be provided soon. As an image editor, Nano Banana is expected to provide users with tools to edit the images stored within their Google Photos accounts.
