Apple is expected to announce new products “this week,” according to Mark Gurman of Bloomberg in his Power On newsletter, with updates likely focused on the iPad Pro, Vision Pro, and base 14-inch MacBook Pro.
The announcements are expected to be made through a series of press releases on the Apple Newsroom website, potentially accompanied by short promotional videos on YouTube, rather than a formal event. As Monday is Columbus Day in the United States and Thanksgiving in Canada, the announcements may be delayed until Tuesday or later in the week. The product updates are expected to focus on the iPad Pro, Vision Pro, and the base 14-inch MacBook Pro, with each receiving an upgrade to Apple’s next-generation M5 chip.
Recent unboxing videos from Russia have provided details on the upcoming iPad Pro. The videos confirm the device will be equipped with the M5 chip and feature an increased minimum of 12 GB of RAM. No significant external design changes were visible, though one minor alteration is the removal of the “iPad Pro” inscription from the back of the device. Previous rumors suggested the new iPad Pro models would include a second front-facing camera to facilitate video calls in both portrait and landscape orientations. However, the unboxing videos did not show evidence of a second camera, leaving this feature unconfirmed.
Geekbench 6 benchmark results shown in one of the videos indicate the M5 chip retains a 9-core CPU configuration, with three performance cores and six efficiency cores. The tests revealed that the M5 chip delivers up to 12% faster multi-core CPU performance and up to 36% faster GPU performance compared to the M4 chip in the current iPad Pro.
An updated Vision Pro headset is also anticipated, featuring the M5 chip, which contrasts with an earlier rumor that suggested an M4 chip. There has been speculation about a new R2 chip for improved input processing, which would reportedly be manufactured on TSMC’s 2nm process. However, Apple’s first chips using this advanced process are not expected until the second half of next year. The updated Vision Pro is expected to include a more comfortable “Dual Knit Band” head strap in the box and may be offered in a new Space Black color. According to FCC documents that were made public, the device will continue to support Wi-Fi 6, not the newer Wi-Fi 6E or Wi-Fi 7 standards. It remains unclear if these updates will constitute a second-generation model. Reports have indicated that Apple has suspended development on a more advanced next-generation Vision Pro and a lighter, lower-cost “Vision Air” model to shift its focus toward smart glasses.
Gurman stated that a base 14-inch MacBook Pro with an M5 chip is “ready for launch.” This follows a report from AppleInsider which noted that the base M5 MacBook Pro would be released ahead of the higher-end models equipped with M5 Pro and M5 Max chips, which are not expected until early 2026. Beyond the new chip, no other significant changes are anticipated for this model.
More substantial upgrades are rumored for MacBook Pro models that are two generations away. These future enhancements may include OLED displays, touchscreen capabilities, a thinner design, integrated cellular connectivity, and M6 chips built on TSMC’s 2nm process.
Gurman also mentioned that new models of the Apple TV, HomePod mini, and AirTag are “still very much on the road map,” though he did not provide a timeline for their release. He expects other new products, including an entry-level iPad, iPad Air, Studio Display, MacBook Air models, and an iPhone 17e, to launch early next year.
