OpenAI has launched a TikTok-like social media app named Sora, available through an invite-only early access period, and within 24 hours, it has been populated with various AI-generated videos, many featuring a realistic deepfake of OpenAI CEO Sam Altman.
One video showcases a vast factory farm where pink pigs are in individual pens, each equipped with a feeding trough and a smartphone playing a continuous stream of vertical videos. In the video, an AI-generated Sam Altman looks directly at the viewer and asks, “Are my piggies enjoying their slop?”
Another video on the app’s “For You” feed shows the Altman deepfake in a field with Pokémon characters, including Pikachu, Bulbasaur, and what is described as a “half-baked Growlithe.” The AI Altman states, “I hope Nintendo doesn’t sue us.” Other scenes generated on the app depict the OpenAI CEO in various scenarios, including serving drinks to Pikachu and the character Eric Cartman at a Starbucks, screaming at a customer from behind a McDonald’s counter, and stealing NVIDIA GPUs from a Target. The latter video shows him getting caught and begging police not to confiscate the hardware.
Users generating these videos have reportedly expressed amusement at the apparent copyright violations. The article notes that Sora will reportedly require copyright holders to opt out of their content’s use—a reversal of the typical creator-consent model—and that the legality of this approach is debatable.
In one generated video, the AI Altman character echoes a platform warning, stating, “This content may violate our guardrails concerning third-party likeness,” before bursting into hysterical laughter. The app is also filled with other videos that feature well-known characters, such as Pikachu performing ASMR, Naruto ordering Krabby Patties, and Mario smoking weed.
The source text also states that the capabilities of Sora are impressive, drawing a contrast with the “mind-numbing slop” on Meta’s AI application and its social feed, which is also attempting to create a TikTok-style AI format.
