Canva has expanded its artificial intelligence suite, Canva AI, to support 16 new languages, allowing users to access its AI tools and generate output in their native languages.

The visual communications platform’s update enables users to write prompts in their native languages, and the AI can process verbal requests made in any of the supported languages, which now include Arabic, Chinese, Dutch, French, German, Hindi, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Polish, Portuguese, Spanish, Thai, Turkish, and Vietnamese. According to the company’s press release, the conversational AI assistant, originally introduced in April 2025, has been enhanced to cater to a broader user base.

The language update also includes proficiency in 31 different locales, allowing the AI to comprehend local conventions and cultural nuances for more contextually accurate results. Although the company did not provide a specific list of the 31 supported locales, it highlighted the locale-aware functionality, stating that “someone in Tokyo asking for a professional presentation will see Canva AI consider Japanese design sensibilities, or someone in Mumbai requesting a festive poster will see Canva AI draw from culturally-relevant visual elements.”

The expansion of Canva AI is significant, given that its tools have been used over 20 billion times since their introduction, marking them as one of the platform’s fastest-growing offerings. The company has also reported exceeding $3.3 billion in annualized revenue and reaching a milestone of 240 million global users. The Canva AI suite includes a range of features, such as generating designs, images, and draft documents, as well as writing front-end focused code and creating video clips, a function powered by Google’s Veo 3 AI model.

Other editing capabilities of Canva AI include the ability to remove or expand backgrounds, erase and reposition elements within a design, and perform localized edits. Notably, Canva AI is a premium feature that is included with all subscriptions available on the platform, making it accessible to a wide range of users.
