Xiaomi has unveiled its latest flagship smartphone lineup, comprising the Xiaomi 17, Xiaomi 17 Pro, and Xiaomi 17 Pro Max, and has kicked off open sales in China, marking a significant launch for the company.
The new series is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, a cutting-edge chip that is expected to deliver enhanced performance and efficiency. In a post on Weibo, Xiaomi announced that the new series achieved a sales record for the company’s flagship smartphones within the first five minutes of going on sale. Although the exact sales figures and revenue from the launch period have not been disclosed, this milestone indicates strong initial demand for the devices.
The strong performance of the Xiaomi 17 series could position it to become one of the brand’s best-selling flagship series. The launch strategy for the 17 series differs from the previous year’s approach, with three models being made available at the initial launch, unlike the Xiaomi 15 series, which debuted with only two models. The availability of three models at the outset may have contributed to the higher sales volume recorded this year.
Xiaomi is offering the Pro models in two different form factors: a “compact and tall” version, providing consumers with a choice of device size within the premium Pro offerings. The initial sales data points to significant consumer interest in the new flagship trio, suggesting a successful launch for the company.
