Intel Urged to Go Private, Split Units

Former Intel board members are proposing a significant restructuring of the company, suggesting it go private and split into separate foundry and chip design units.

This proposal, driven by the recent NVIDIA deal and stake acquisitions by the US government, aims to shift Intel’s focus from meeting financial goals for stakeholders to building products. The creation of a successful foundry is seen as beneficial not only for Intel but also for the Trump administration and various semiconductor design firms.

Going private is believed to offer Intel additional advantages, including the ability to retain AI talent and make advancements in emerging industries. However, this path is not without complications, as it would necessitate selling all public stock and addressing the concerns of shareholders.
