Nvidia has made a significant investment of over $900 million in cash and stock to onboard Enfabrica CEO Rochan Sankar and key personnel from the AI hardware startup, while also licensing its technology.
The deal, which was finalized last week, effectively integrates Sankar into Nvidia’s team, strengthening the company’s AI infrastructure capabilities. Enfabrica, founded in 2019, specializes in developing technology that enables the interconnection of large numbers of GPUs for advanced AI systems.
Nvidia had previously backed Enfabrica with a $125 million investment during the company’s Series B funding round in 2023, demonstrating its early confidence in the startup’s potential. This latest move marks Nvidia’s largest talent acquisition since its $6.9 billion purchase of Mellanox in 2019, underscoring the company’s ongoing efforts to bolster its AI infrastructure capabilities.
